We stayed at the Best Western The Inn at the Fairgrounds in April, 2024 for the Odyssey of the Mind competition at the NYS Fairgrounds. The hotel was mediocre at best- the room we stayed in was not particularly clean, the beds were VERY firm, the pillows had seen better days, the sheets were threadbare, and the bathroom looked like there was a roof leak in the shower. The room had updated decor, but it really needed to be cleaned better and the ceiling in the shower was gross. The staff was friendly, but they seemed to be short staffed- the front desk was usually empty and they were very slow to refill the continental breakfast. There was also a loud vibrating noise all night long from something mechanical. We did have a place to sleep, but I will pick a different hotel the next time we find ourselves needing to stay over in Syracuse.

Freezing cold, beds had puke and piss stains all over them, shower leaked and dripped, no water pressure. Toilet and sink leaked and it was never cleaned up. Told the front desk they denied it. Also our reservation confirmation said $0 due upon arrival but made us pay again anyway. Terrible management, rude, liars.

Noncaring staff and manager and overpriced

The staff and manager didn't care about my concerns. The room was overpriced and the quality of breakfast and overall service was below other BW hotels. When I checked in, I was not offered my water bottle as a Diamond member. I mentioned that I should get a water bottle as Diamond member and I was told they didn't have free water bottle for Diamond members and I had to pay for it. Eventually I got my water bottle after some back and forth. The quality and variety of breakfast items were below average compared to other BW hotels and there was nobody in breakfast area to address the problems. However, even if there was anybody around, I doubt they would care, based on my experience at check-in and check-out. The major problem other than quality of breakfast was my check-in. I explained that I already prepaid for my stay with BW gift card. In the morning, I found that my credit card that was supposed to be for incidentals was charged for the stay. I showed my electronic receipt at the front desk to show that I had already paid with a BW gift card. She told me she couldn't do anything to refund the charge back to my credit card and I had to wait till 3 pm to talk to the manager. I was leaving for Canada and I explained that I could not wait till afternoon and I would be driving all day, I could not talk on the phone when the manager would come to the hotel. She said she would leave a message for the manager to call me back. The manager never called me back and the charge of $82.21 that I had already paid with my BW gift card has not been refunded to my credit card after a week. I didn't even have to wait till afternoon to talk to the manager. I showed my electronic receipt as proof of payment and the charge on my credit card should have been refunded in the morning by the front desk staff right there and then. The quality of room and service was definitely not worth $82.21. They were not even busy that night to justify such a high price. There were just a few cars in the parking lot. I have stayed at some other BW hotels that were fully booked and busy and provided better quality of service at a lower price than this location. If there is a response from the manager it would be the typical template answer "we are sorry we didn't meet your expectations and we hope you visit us again". How can you expect a customer to visit again when you don't do anything meaningful to show care for the customer or address the customer's concerns?

The room was clean and comfortable. My stay was very quiet (my room was on the 1st floor). The breakfast offerings were typical of what you would find at most "breakfast included" hotels. Staff was friendly. The BEST part of the hotel is the restaurant attached! Daniella's is one of Syracuse's best kept secrets!

Room was listed at 89.00 ended up 160.00 at front desk. Ceilings in bath room were peeling badly and covered in mold. Tv didn't work,not even a remote in the room. When given one it didn't work either. Mattresses were rock hard and worst of all, no hot water whatsoever!
